Information for Patients
We are pleased that you chose USMD for your procedure. Whether it's a test, outpatient procedure, outpatient overnight stay or inpatient stay, our goal is to assist you through the entire process and make your visit with us a comfortable and pleasant experience. Our outpatient diagnostic testing departments use the latest and most efficient equipment. The outpatient day surgery unit is fully equipped to provide exemplary service, and our inpatient unit offers large private suites reminiscent of a fine hotel.
What to expect
Appointment Scheduling: Your appointment for services can be scheduled with us in two different ways:
- Your doctor may give you a written order for an outpatient test or procedure and request that you contact the Central Scheduling office at (817) 472-3550. We will make every attempt to assist you with an appointment time that is convenient for you, and obtain your personal and insurance information to speed your check-in on the day of service.
- Your provider may schedule your outpatient test or surgical procedure with USMD for you. After your insurance is verified and your financial responsibility determined, the Central Scheduling department will contact you to set your appointment time, verify your patient information and discuss your financial responsibility with you. If you have questions prior to their contacting you, please call the USMD Central Scheduling office at (817) 472-3550.
If your doctor has scheduled you for a surgical procedure, the Central Scheduling office will contact you to make an additional appointment for your preadmission testing 3 to 10 days before your scheduled surgery. Preadmission testing is a review by a nurse of your medical history and laboratory, chest x-ray and EKG as ordered by your physician.
Cancellation: If you are unable to keep your appointment for your pre-admission test or surgery, please call 817-472-3550 to cancel or make further arrangements. Please notify your physician of the cancellation.
Financial Information: The Central Scheduling staff will assist you with an explanation of your estimated financial responsibility after your insurance has been verified and benefits obtained for your hospital procedure. Payment can be made over the phone with the Central Scheduling staff in advance or on your initial day of service when you arrive for testing. USMD accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, CareCredit, checks and cash as forms of payment. The Central Scheduling office can provide you with information on these payment options so that you are prepared to meet your estimated financial responsibility at the time of your initial service.
On your appointment date: You will check in at the front Information Desk. Your reservation will be with the Receptionist. If you have not completed the registration process (signatures for consents) and met all of your financial requirements, you will be directed to Registration. If you have previously completed your surgical preadmission testing, you will check in at the front Information Desk to receive your armband and paperwork before going to the Surgical Waiting Area.
