With minimally invasive techniques, surgeons have improved ways of accessing the spine, resulting in smaller incisions and less trauma to surrounding muscles and tissues, shorter anesthesia and surgery time, shorter hospital stay and quicker return to work. Many of the spinal procedures at USMD may be performed either through an open incision or a minimally invasive technique.
